Xojo Hmmmm šŸ¤”

Xojo is outdated. End of it. There is no chance for stepping in any index over all languages above #99. And even that is … no comment. There is a big amount of languages more interesting than Xojo. They could be better. But they decided not to do anything in that direction.

what ever it is: Xojo shows what it can do: produce more and more bugs and more and more unsatisfied customers. And they can’t do anything against. That is the problem of the company.

Well my ā€œjokeā€ was more about the fact, that Xojo never mentions TIOBE when they are not listed, but only when within the 2-digits-range ;-). TIOBE is one of the rare indexes mentioning Xojo sometimes …

Maybe that is why ā€˜Basic’ was dropped: they don’t get the basics right

Yes that is true. They don’t mention Xojo outside of that times while…hmmm while…yeah while they forgot about mentioning and Tobe is mentioning them so they mention toilet…ahhhh toile.

I speak 3 dead languages: Latin, my mother tongue Luxembourgian and Xojo-ish. The difference is that I can still use Luxembourgian to speak to my mom  and Latin is nice to
understand the inscriptions on graves,

Perhaps that’s the future? AI based bug generator for testing other languages. BUJU!

Not really. While they don’t have any need for it.

The explanation of what xojo means / meant is purely fiction as far as I’m concerned

The original name, REALbasic, was marketable and they would own that word
But they decided to rename it as REAL Studio to sort of follow the trendy naming of the day
However, REAL Studio, as 2 words wasnt ā€œownableā€
Any looking for music and recording in a ā€œreal studioā€ would find it
So that rename was a mess as it diminished the search ability of the brand

Xojo is/was a name that appeared unused and could be ā€œownedā€
For better or worse
And once again name recognition and search ability of that name had to be recreated

Well there IS also confusion about what’s ā€œlanguageā€ and whats ā€œframeworkā€ and often their own staff, including the CEO, refer to as language changes
Altering the names of events on a class in the framework ISNT a ā€œlanguageā€ change
But they do refer to those sorts of things as if they are

DIM/VAR is one of the VERY few actual language changes that has occurred
The easiest way to think of it is if its in XojoScript its language since Xojo Script includes almost NO framework code of any kind

And in that regard the language itself hasn’t moved in years
Async / await are still not present but really need to be in the language at a very low level
Support for VB’s WITH clause isnt there

and as Android Studio is now occupied, they have to use RealAndroidStudio, but that takes obviously some time.

StudiAndroidRealXojo maybe ?

But that one was a smart move. Easy to understand change, didn’t break code, flexible, short. They followed the KISS principle: keep it simple and sexy.

They had some at one XDC. Vile stuff if everyone was to be believed.

It’s a protein drink. Yuck

Only drink I ever tried that could be described to have texture

Disliked it

Yeah that one was funny that it showed up at the exact same time (or very nearly so)

I just mentioned it since you said about ā€œowningā€ the name. With Xojo, they started off with others using the same name…

Well no surprise here:

BUGS + BLENDER => Protein shake.

ā€œTastes and feels like the REAL Xojoā€

Yeah it was REALLY weird that there was a company with the very same name at nearly the exact same time
