XDC Anywhere?

Christians presentation is a few seconds over 30 minutes! At least Christian never fails to disappoint and always delivers!

In a normal conference, we would probably do longer and show a few example projects and answer questions.

grab my how to
its dated but walks you through Xcode

I nominate Christian to make a competing IDE/toolchain using the python language.

or maybe using a good language :stuck_out_tongue:

python is great for some stuff but as an x-platform language with UI’s not fantastic

Agreed. That’s what I’d like to see Christian bring to the table. I think they call this the ā€œbig askā€

I’m not married to python necessarily but I do use it for a lot of data science stuff so it’s always nice to have a consistent language across tasks. Obviously I know Xojo too and still use it for some small desktop apps. Python is better though.

Sorry folks, I am busy enough making plugins.

… judging by XDC :man_facepalming: :woman_facepalming: you might need a plan B sooner than you’d like …

They should have a whole course aabout this topic with in deep topics. A simplistic example is not that useful.

   So, you didnt saw the first ios versions, compaared to that, they do have a lot to brag. Hey look, this is not raw, just half baked.

The silence on TOF is deafening…

conversations about the presentations so far have been limited

TBH I think w’ve discussed things more here

Theres such a limited audience a whole session might not be that useful
But some ā€œhow to guidesā€, like the one I posted about earlier that I created while I worked there, would be hugely welcome
William does spin through that pretty quickly though

Ok playing devil’s advocate, this is their first time doing a digital event. And probably their last. They have things to learn, and I don’t think any of their staff has done something like this before. I think it’s worth cutting them some slack.

Sure. If an event like this had NEVER EVER been done by anyone ever before and they are the first to ever do it

But you and I both know that’s not the case
There are tons of examples of doing this around - APple, MS, and lots of smaller companies like LiveCode have done these

There ARE examples to draw from to see what things worked, and worked well. And what didn’t.

Like you thought I don’t expect they’ll do this kind of event this way again

It’s the content, not the medium.

Replicating the success of others is easier said than done. They’re just people trying to make the best of a bad situation.

That’s just another excuse. If devs were interested they’d be engaged. Xojo has been pushing devs away at every opportunity. And now others are complaining and learning no matter what you say Xojo will just ignore it. Eventually they run out of devs that care.

Fix the bugs and slow bug creation. That’s what folks want.

I’d tend to agree
Having to cancel the conference does require shifting gears
Making the sessions live might have mitigated the crickets there are on TOF in the various threads

Dunno

But that wouldn’t have been hard to TRY

Not trying is worse than trying & failing

I’m sort of glad I don’t have the Briefs blog around any more. I’d feel obligated write up something about this sh*t.

What a PR disaster.

I agree with @thommcgrath and I agree with those who disagree with him.

Holy moly… I had to go back and double check.
There appears to be more discussion here about the XDC event than TOF… Albeit most of it here, is highly critical and considering that most here, feel burned by Xojo, that is to be expected. Kinda shows you which audience is interested in this kind of event…
