I was joking about the sony, pentax, etc thing. I’m a Nikon guy but started photography many years ago on the Canon ecosystem.
I own DSLRs now but I’m seriously thinking about moving to mirrorless. I teach photography so I get to play with many different type of cameras. I have been thinking whether to move to a Sony A6300 or a Fuji XT-3. I really like the size of the A6000 series so that might be the route I take.
Some of my photography friends tell me I’m nuts going back to aps-c size sensor but for the type of photography I do I see no benefit now days for FF cameras.
I have been so pleased with the A6300 and the rapid fire is awesome on continuous shoots. Even though its is cropped sensor, the photos do turn out amazing. Also, another thing to think about is how much lenses cost especially when you go FF.
I never could get used to Nikon as the buttons location, menu config compared to Canon was to foreign to me to get comfortable on. but when I switched to Sony, everything felt just right.
The only thing I don’t like about the A6000 series or any Sony for that matter is the menu system. I really think that is one thing they need to update. Or perhaps I’m too dumb for Sony LOL
I’m in awe of all of you who can make physical things. There’s a good reason why most of my creativity is channeled into programming these days: there’s an undo button or, failing that, revert to backup As for Norman’s skiing: I tried it once and will probably never try it again
And a few years ago I took up target shooting, specifically 10m air rifle. I’ve had some success at nationallevel and competed internationally. There aren’t many sports where you can compete at that level in your 40s
Nikon, APS (D7200 primary, D300s and D200 backup). I was out of serious photography for many years, and when I bought my first DSLR I went Nikon since I had lenses left over from my film days. It was a cheap way to reenter the hobby.
I’m the oddball in my family. My brother-in-law is a serious amateur photographer and his son is a pro. They both shoot with Canon full-frame cameras.
I’m not “religious” about a camera’s make or format, just like I’m not about programming languages or operating systems. I have preferences and they are right for me but won’t be for everyone. It turns out that although I went Nikon to be frugal, I prefer my Nikons to my relatives’ Canons. (We’ve swapped around and the Canon controls don’t land in the right place for my hands.)
I’m looking at mirrorless but won’t make a move for at least a year. I’ve got other toys that are higher priority.
Your pinball and coffee table arcade is just flat out awesome! The coffee table design is very slick, by chance are you using retro pi for the console?
The closes thing I did was build desktop picades. Though I built them for the kids to play with, I have found my wife sneaking over to play super mario brothers.
I’m a professional photographer too but I stay away from weddings. I don’t like to see people suffer LOL! Joking aside, I really stay away from weddings, I can’t deal with the mother of the bride.
