Xojo Hmmmm šŸ¤”

My bad - I misread this then

Iā€™d thought Iā€™d seen a report in Issues about Ventura & MsgBox but I cant find one

Ouch !

They are understaffed at every position related to dev & QA

Bugs should IMHO always take higher priority
Yes I get why they want to put features in every release
I disagree that EVERY release needs new features but thats their belief
Basically

People wont buy new versions because of bug fixes

and

Bug fixes dont make for good press releases

BUT - as far as I know theyā€™ve NEVER tried doing this so its just an ingrained belief - not something theyā€™ve ever seen actually happen; or not

Since the differences are relatively small, the programming languages are only listed (in alphabetical order).

basically so tiny as to not be differentiable

and FOR POSTERITY as of today (NOT on the list at all)

Geez ZIG hasnā€™t even reached 1.0 and it surpasses Xojo ?to make ā€œthe next 50ā€ ???
ouch

No one said that in that post.

Thank you. I was thinking that. But due to the fact that I have done the error, I was not in the mood to blame Xojo.

On a second look, I had to add these global values as a bug work-around, so it is two times their fault

Matter closed. During a lapse of time i was asking myself if you too can do mistakes :innocent: or if I am the only one.

Greetings from Strasbourg, France.

Hahaha tons of them, I can spend you a few. But the difference is: when and if then I know itā€™s my fault and not the fault of a half way ready compiler

It is in the Wikipedia article.

you are reading and following links? Donā€™t do that please

It is still there. They may begin to realise what they have lost.
When starting evaluating Xojo in 2021 there was still an active forum with lots of contributions from professional and experienced developers. Coming from Clarisā€™ clinically dead forum I found it quite inspiring and refreshing. This has slowed to a trickle now and there isnā€™t much going on.

All users moved to a pro license and are now chatting on that channel ā€¦

Last I head there was not much going on thereā€¦ but that was awhile goā€¦

If true that there is where there is a lot of ā€œproā€ discussion, itā€™s not good for Xojo, as it definitely does not help to get new customers, and that includes pros that donā€™t need all the platforms and so not interested in a Pro license.

Uhmm lets just so while thats a great conspiracy theory it just aint so
I read those from time to time as well and they are equally dead

EDIT : quickly checked
Testers & Pro are ā€œdays since the last postā€ so TOF is busier, such as it is

oh, I was kidding of course, or at least trying hard to be funny. I thought that was clear from my statement, which is as absurd as saying the earth is a square.

Didnā€™t we learn from the XDC that Xojo is doing really well in terms of licensing? I have my doubts. Although there are a few new users in TOF (also Pros (licensing-wise) ), but even the latter group seems to find stumbling blocks quite quickly. That took IMHO a lot longer 15 years ago.

Its NOT ??? :scream_cat: :scream_cat: :scream_cat:

That certainly seemed to be the claim - up 10% or something (with no baseline its a useless claim)

Of course, it is .

Wait for answering this question we better ask the flat-earth specialist Mad Mike Hughes:

Well, he made an impact. R.I.P.

Well I no longer leave a tab up for TOF and so if youā€™re not logged in for a few days you get an email summarizing what youā€™re missing. Todayā€™s summary:

*Xojo 2022.3.2 carshing on macOS 13.3.1 (a)
*Timer infos
*SelectSQL SELECT wrong syntax
*Xojo3D not working
*MsSQL not work with national letter in WebApp

So at least 3 out of 5 are bug threads. As a bonus, Kem Tekinay has this sage advice:

ā€œI think if you set your expectations now, you inevitably will be disappointed, And just because something isnā€™t discussed, or even mentioned, during XDC, does not mean itā€™s not in progress.ā€

(did he mean set your expectations low??)

Gavin Smith: ā€œIā€™m not sure that I want ā€œsurprisesā€ anymore. Iā€™m too old for surprises! Iā€™d happily just hear updates of items on the Roadmap.ā€

So Xojo wants me to visit the site to see the bugs, comments by a user who just wants progress on the roadmap already, and to be admonished to keep up hope because if I donā€™t then itā€™s my own fault that things arenā€™t going well.

Nah ā€¦ I think Iā€™ll just go have a root canal, it would be more fun.

Iā€™m not yet quite convinced, but I get the idea. Priceless picture!

So I must retract blaming Xojo. Iā€™ve come across NSException in the Xojo framework before, normally replacing the broken framework with declares solves it. However this time, it wasnā€™t Xojoā€™s fault.

Trying to display a new window while the application is within a NSAnimationContext group is fatal. Which includes displaying a NSAlert because of a detected error.

No he seems to have really meant ā€œdont set your expectations before the conferenceā€
So go to a conference expecting NOTHING and you will be pleasantly surprised by all the amazing stuff !
But if you go hoping to hear Android will be shipping, and all the bugs have been crushed you will be disappointed

Iā€™m sure a lot of people would like to hear about these as some have been there for ages and there areas to be little to no movement. No progress update. No apparent work being done.
Xojo is the only company I know of where the ā€œroadmapā€ is aspirational - not work in progress.
