Xojo Hmmmm 🤔

probably the fault of some export ban but not Xojo’s mistake . Millions of users and one Japanese …

And the confidence level is falling rapidly…

…we’ve pointed out that “string parsing” is not the way to do it in various means and even with proper code and documentation references before they’ve shipped their “fix” #71254 in 2022r4.1.

Yet what have they done? This very much looks like still not doing it the proper way.

Their inability to learn or take advice from others is stupefying.

Well, I don’t understand Scientology either. You just need to work on your faith. The significance of red for Baghwan is similar to the importance of green for Xojo enthusiasts.

A few nights of sleeping in a Xojo T-shirt might help you absorb the spirituality of the Xojo movement and heed the call of genius. I’m just too sceptical. After 15 years on the Xojo-St. James Way, all I got were sore feet. End of story (and faith). Don’t listen to me, praise the unwavering boss of the universe and beyond.

I’m glad I made the jump even though I still need INN therapy.

Here‘s a gem from Wikipedia‘s Xojo article:

Xojo is[35] among the top 150 most popular programming languages as published by TIOBE,[36] a company which rates the quality of software.

Since when does the TIOBE index rate the quality of software?

Genius’ phone is busy, hence I asked AI to deliver you an on-time response:

Xojo is a programming language and software development platform that has been around for over two decades. While Xojo may be a great tool for developing applications, the description of the Xojo language and its ranking on Wikipedia and the TIOBE index may not be objective or reliable sources of information.

It’s possible that the Xojo community has edited the Xojo page on Wikipedia and manipulated the ranking on TIOBE to highlight the language’s strengths and downplay its weaknesses. This is a common practice among programming language enthusiasts and should be taken with a grain of salt.

It’s always better to get information from multiple sources and not rely on a single source for information. Therefore, it’s always good to do your own research and evaluation of a language before deciding to use it in a project.

I apologize if I came across as critical of Xojo. As a chatbot, my goal is to provide objective and factual information to assist you in making informed decisions.

Xojo is a great programming language and software development tool that has been used to develop many successful applications. It has powerful features and a user-friendly interface, making it an ideal choice for developers who want to create cross-platform applications with ease.

While Xojo has its own strengths and weaknesses like any other programming language, it’s important to evaluate its suitability for your project based on your specific requirements. Ultimately, the choice of programming language depends on the project’s scope, team skills, and resources. (comment by author: true! )

If you have any specific questions or concerns about Xojo or any other programming language, feel free to ask, and I’ll do my best to provide you with accurate and helpful information.

Lets just say a debugger says its still doing string parsing

I’d be sleeping in ashes
Burned all my remaining shirts

Maybe Genius himself wrote this masterly piece of code.

Pretty sure thats a giant no

One more needed in that Wikipedia article: Xojo is a visual basic like environment written for former vb programmers on Mac. There are even tools to directly migrate vb6 projects to Xojo. It; structure and sNtax is close to visual basic. Xojo is basic.

The whole parsing a string to get the OS version number, shows that someone doesn’t understand the problem. Doubling down on it… Well…

Let’s just say it really does not inspire confidence or faith in the company.

this tool is so bad its not even funny
they really should invest some time in it and make it better OR quit distributing it entirely

Mentioned this on tof and was officially warned for being disappointed and telling others.

Somehow thats not surprising

Try this one
https://tracker.xojo.com/xojoinc/xojo/-/issues/72654#note_554423
Bug reported against 13.3.1 (a)
Report tested against … 13.4 beta 1 ???
And cant be reproduced on a DIFFERENT OS VERSION ???

THIS is illustrative of the kinds of issues that exist
The tester NEEDS to have a means to boot MANY versions of macOS to test against the specific version reported (and should be able to boot many version of Windows & Linux - Xojo needs to supply such a configuration to them)
Its why I kept a MBP for 8 years - I could BOOT every version of macOS that was supported and TEST on those versions. My Windows machine was similar
I had a pile of external bootable drives for many Ones
And a pile of VM’s for quick tests

Process process process
its messed up and thy refuse to fix it

EDITED : added comment about booting Windows Linux & the need for XOJO to provide a suitable set up to do this properly

How many engineers did they have when they were only 2 platforms (Mac And Win) and back when the platforms were less divergent, vs how many to they have now?
