And this says a ton
And I’m sure influence your willingness to buy updates
The circle of sales
Good experiences lead to lead to more people saying good things and that leads to more sales
Bad experiences go the other way
Yeah that was a real mistake
I think he apologized for having done that later on
I’m right where Karen is on this. I debated about renewing late last year and came very close to not renewing. I did it while figuratively holding my nose, to be honest. I may not at the end of this year unless I see improvement. The whole situation with API2 has left me upset and disappointed. The arrogance, as has already been mentioned here, turned me off. Sure, I’m small potatoes compared to some of you who have to make your living with these tools, but I expressed my opinion during the beta cycle and felt just as ignored.
I started my first all-API2 program this week. In a way I feel like I’m learning a new language; I’ve had the language reference up almost the entire time and my code output has been much lower than normal. I get that it’s a learning process, but I can’t help but say, “Why?”
And could some of “the circle of sales” be behind the flash sale today?
Dunno whats prompted the sale
Who knows if maybe lagging revenue during the pandemic is a factor ?
Or sales are lagging without a new version ?
Or something else ?
Its all speculation
For anyone who bought within the past 85 days or so I’d return it and then buy a new one at 20% less
You have been suspended from the Xojo Forum for the following rules violations:
Ask yourself if your reply adds to the discussion. If it doesn’t, give it some more thought before posting.
Make sure your replies provide constructive feedback and support to allow for an inclusive community.
We’re all here to talk about Xojo, to get help and help others. Criticizing ideas (by means of reasoned arguments) is an important part of that. But let’s not get carried away and start personal attacks against each other or Xojo, because negativity only gets in the way.
As the Xojo community is meant to be a resource for Xojo users to receive help, share tips, and communicate in a reasonable and professional manner, intentionally inflammatory comments or attacks will not be tolerated.
You have been suspended from the Xojo Forum for 30 days. Your account will be reactivated on June 1, 2020.
As the Xojo community is meant to be a resource for Xojo users to receive help, share tips, and communicate in a reasonable and professional manner, intentionally inflammatory comments (trolling) or users who are an overwhelmingly negative influence in the community will be suspended.
I’m asking for a refund for the Pro subscription I purchased today. I cannot in good conscience give money to a company that treats its customers like garbage this way.
It is completely outrageous to have banned @npalardy from the forum for his comments. I also think banning @DaveS was unreasonable although I guess you did use a minor profanity. I still feel it’s excessive.
I had to chuckle to myself when the thread was locked by an MVP and that action was then liked by another MVP. Do these guys realise they have become Xojo stooges?
I’m so very glad that we have this community here where people can at least give a rational grown up opinion on the tool they use for their livelihood without fear of retribution.
This was the entire point of the thread I opened and it never got addressed by Geoff despite Gavin (who locked the thread) saying:
Geoff has answered so I’m locking this now.
Trust me - he never did.
I also can’t believe this ridiculous statement from Geoff:
Changing the marketing message might actually create more confusion than it clears up.
Does he really think that the programmers using his tool are that stupid?
LOL… yeah I think it was more along the lines that I made Geoff realize his ego was the problem… but at this point… Xojo will probably never see another dime from me
I think I got suspended from there for posts I made here
Maybe counselling folks to return their recent license purchases and buy them again on sale today to save 20% ?
Thats the silliness of having those tow policies that let people do this
Not my fault I saw that
Is it ???
No… He just admitted he was wrong in saying that anyone could mark a thread as answered… No apology for marking it answered that I saw.
Apparently you got suspended for what you posted here, because i did not see anything that you posted on their forum (or here for that matter - though you posted more about it here) that reasonably could be called trolling IMO. You just posted things that any user unhappy with something in the product would…
I would interpret that as bias against you personally … the fact that you are an ex contractor who they decided to let go should not factor into it… Now you are a user like any of us and only your actions there and how they compare to what others who are not suspended post should matter.
IMO your suspension was very unprofessional of them.
That said they obviously have a love/hate relationship with your posting, as you got a reinstatement date where as Dave and Markus did not…
They like the support you give other users, but they also are not comfortable with you there I think.
I think Dave stepped a bit over the line of civility in one of his posts… so while its was heavy handed for sure, one could argue there was a justifiable reason for it…
Xojo does not feel like the same company that it used to be… and IMO the change in both direction and tone have not been for the better from my point of view…
There was a time i was very vocal about my opinions on some things about the product (and Norm sometimes you were on the receiving end of that! )…
Sometimes it was because it was a feature I needed/wanted , sometime because I thought it was important for the product to be successful in the long run… and i very much wanted it to be.
But given all that has transpired in the last several years those feelings are no longer anywhere near as strong as they were. The passion is no longer there.
The ironic thing… when I first saw that 20% Sale, I started to think if perhaps I should cave and go one more year… but guess what? That ain’t never gonna happen now!
