In addition to what @npalardy says, it should auto detect whether to use light or dark mode if you’re on iOS or macOS. It reads the OS setting through some JavaScript voodoo.

and if you are on Safari… you also would have to check the ā€œDisable Safari Theme Switchingā€ā€¦

Now that dark them was mentioned, do you guys feel that the dark mode is actually easier on the eyes when one spends hours looking at the monitor(s) ?

Personally I think it does. After using Visual Studio Code and Atom editors for a while I really enjoyed using the Pale Night theme on those editors, to the point that I tried to make the Xojo code editor look as close as I can to that theme. Do you guys ā€œthemeā€ the editor in any way or am I the only looney that does it?

Here is what my Code Editor looks like:

I think dark mode depends on the situation and I love how apple has taken a concept that has been around for some time, market it, and then have everyone refer to their marketing term :stuck_out_tongue:

For example, how much time are you spending your day in an application and how information driven is the application. I can speak to Medical Image PACS products where the environment tends to be in a dark room and the applications tend to be on the blue-ish, blue-ish gary-ish side that leans to dark. What is interesting though in imaging, the Image itself tends to be on the bright while side (depending on how the user plays with contrast).

example below is a PACS product that has been around since late 90s.

I managed to obtain a eye floater as well where being in a bright environment, I can see a small dot. Went to the eye doctor who confirmed it. I felt depressed after the consult that there is nothing that can be done about it.

Yes
BUT I do not use the default dark theme shipped in 2019r3 or newer
The colors are far too vibrant
I use this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Theme>
<Coding>
<pref name="Code Editor Keywords Color" color="B3416000" />
<pref name="Code Editor Strings Color" color="D76C3200" />
<pref name="Code Editor Numbers Color" color="786DFF00" />
<pref name="Code Editor Floating Point Numbers Color" color="786DFF00" />
<pref name="Code Editor Source Code Color" color="A5A4A400" />
<pref name="Code Editor Comments Color" color="30983000" />
<pref name="Code Editor Autocomplete Color" color="807F7F00" />
<pref name="Code Editor Background" color="17161600" />
<pref name="Code Editor Cursor Color" color="A5A4A400" />
<pref name="Matched Indent Brace Color" color="Default" />
<pref name="Unmatched Indent Brace Color" color="Default" />
<pref name="Debugger Highlight Color" color="36363600" />
<pref name="Code Editor URL Color" color="5D8DC500" />
<pref name="Code Editor Source Matching Color" color="Default" />
<pref name="Code Font" font="Menlo" />
<pref name="Code Font Size" size="14" />
<pref name="Code Editor Text Highlight Color" color="495E7F00" />
<pref name="Code Editor Inactive Text Highlight Color" color="Default" />
</Coding>
</Theme>

You can save that into a plain text file that has a .xojo_theme extension and then simply drag it into the navigator and the IDE will adopt those colors

This is my current set up

That’s interesting - my mother-in-law has a cleaning lady that comes once a week. Everytime after cleaning her computer desk she puts the magic mouse back upside down! I guess she thinks the apple is the ā€œthis side upā€ indicator.

A couple of years ago I had a cleaning lady that came a couple times a week. She disconnected every single electrical appliance in the house when she did the cleaning but never thought about reconnecting them back LOL.

Mines on my desk upside down like the dead turd it has been :frowning:

When I was 16 in the eighties I worked briefly at County Hall. They had a George Mainframe computer and requests would come in and I’d find the tape and spool it up.

A new cleaning company pulled all the plugs to the room to do a deep clean one evening. The shouting went on for weeks…

My friend’s cleaner accidentally cleaned the screen of his two month old iMac Pro with some cleaning fluid that didn’t mix well with the coating on his screen. Cost him > Ā£1000 to fix. Can’t image how painful that conversation must have been…

Holy shit. Imagine how the cleaner must have felt when told?! Hopefully an insurance claim rather than out of pocket.

He didn’t have accidental damage cover so he had to fork out the cost. I think he actually didn’t tell the cleaner. He just asked her not to clean his office anymore!

Thanks for the welcome.
Hi Ed, where are you operating of late?

Doing a lot of FT8 on 6m getting into east coast, and Caribbean and over to Russia the other way (even though it seems they do not have 6m!).

I see from your QRZ page where you are and thats in my 6m range, 200w and an HB9CV is all I run on there.

Got an 80m loop up for HF and 800w to make up for inefficiencies!

And yes the 7700 is certainly still a top notch beast, I managed to pick it up second hand needing a couple of fixes for £1500 which I was very pleased about.

Nice to see another radio head on the forum!
