I’ve seen some interesting opinions on this forum, but that one tops most.
I cannot understand what is happening to the world right now. It’s like people are begging to be abused, mistreated, cheated, and debased.

well, there are still some in the UK who believe Brexit was a good idea…
race … drove such a wedge between the white and black workers that there probably are not today in the world two groups of workers with practically identical interests who hate and fear each other so deeply and persistently and who are kept so far apart that neither sees anything of common interest.
(W.E.B. Du Bois, Black reconstruction in America: 1860-1880, p. 700)
As long as one group thinks their simping for authoritarians will gain them favour …
Fear and loathing of “the other” will always stoke a certain segment of the population
And WOOHOO !
Yeah lets all vote to make things shittier !
Even when we know it will make things shittier !
Uh ?
Trumpism is that way too
Cut any social safety nets
Cut anything that would help the average person out
Big tax cuts for the rich !
The AMAZING part is the ultra rich have convinced the average & poor to vote TO give the ultra rich tax cuts & screw themselves
More than once !
But then the do that here too with the same BS about “help the companies out and it will ripple down to you” line of BS (it almost never happens)
So royalties from the natural resources companies extract are ridiculously low because OMG They’ll go some where else ! which is mostly bullshit
OMG we can subsidize renewables ! like you did oil & gas way back when (& still do with stupidly low royalties & other tax breaks?)

Yes the deficit is huge but its by trying to support households, non-profits & businesses
Yep, I completely agree with this. One possible option is a Flat-Tax. If you are ultra-rich, you end up paying a relatively small amount. With a flat tax, the tax rate is simplified and gets rid of many issues, such as having the government creating loopholes for themselves, and their rich friends.
A flat tax of 15% would be as follows:
If you make $50,000 you pay $7500 in taxes.
If you make $150,000 you pay $22,500 in taxes
If you make $1,500,000 you pay $225,000 in taxes.
With progressive tax for 2025, here is what each person would claim for taxes (not necessarily what they pay):
If you make under $57,375 you pay 15% ($8,606)
If you make between $57,375 to $114,750 you pay 20.5% (114,750@.205=$23,523.75)
If you make between $114,750 to $177,882 you pay 26% (177,882@.26=$30,649.32)
If you make between $177,882 to $253,414 you pay 29% (253,414@.29=$73,490.06)
If you make above $253,414 you pay 33% (253,414@.33=$83,626,62)
If you are in the higher tax bracket, you can pay an accountant a nice wage to get deductions on your minimum of $83,626,62 in taxes. Because the government allows ‘special deductions’, this promotes accountants to look through each law and get the best deductions for their client. Our current tax system is dishonest, as all people are not able to pay a good accountant to find loopholes.
A flat-tax is exactly that - this is the minimum you pay. If you have a lower income, you pay less. If you have a higher income you pay more. Elimination of special deductions is the purpose behind flat-tax. (Flat tax - Wikipedia)
By increasing the rate of tax for higher earners, this promotes and incentivises accountants to look for loopholes. With a flat-tax, there are no loopholes. Businesses which support the government get laws passed for deductions with their special-case.
Just make it flat-tax to make it fair.
America’s taxes are not chunked into paying more if you make more.
It’s chunked into paying tax rates on the amount earned above a tier.
An example only to demonstrate how it would work:
If you make under $57,375 you pay 15%
If you make between $57,375 to $114,750 you pay 20.5% on the amount above $57,375
If you make between $114,750 to $177,882 you pay 26% on the amount above $114,750
If you make between $177,882 to $253,414 you pay 29% on the amount above $177,882
If you make above $253,414 you pay 33% you pay 29% on the amount above $253,414
And so on.
So having a scary 50% rate on earnings over 1,000,000/yr isn’t $500,000 in taxes, it’s 50% of the amount over $1,000,000. If the amount earned is $1,000,001 then the tax owed would be 50¢. Anything else is a misunderstanding or outright lie.

They even include a little image to explain it:
A popular statement told to me when i was growing up was how working extra hours would cost you more by putting you in a different tax bracket, but that turned out to be false, and if you are paying your taxes this way, you should consult a lawyer to file amended returns because the IRS will return excess money you’ve been paying. It’s easy to see how people may be sympathetic to the sad plight of the rich person who pays $0 in taxes every year being taxed to much when misinformation like this is tossed around.
Brexit was magnificent.
Next the UK should escape the ECHR.
EU does still have it’s advocates in the UK but they tend to be very blinkered in their analysis of world events, even when the writing’s on the wall, as you can see in this amusing exchange on X on the day of the US election:
That’s precisely what consecutive governments have done to us in the UK. Blair’s government introduced the Human Rights Act 1998 which introduced a limitation on our free speech, we should not say anything that offends “public morality” which is undefined and has become a euphemism for don’t say anything the left disagrees with. The UK now has morality police like Iran.
UK police now spend an inordinate amount of time investigating “non-crime hate incidents” ( e.g. saying things on social media the left disapproves of, even if it’s stating a biological fact like “A woman does not have a penis” or “There are only two genders” ). Police are so busy investigating non-crimes and creating Stasi-esque dossiers on law abiding citizens they don’t have enough time to investigate actual crimes like burglary, shop-lifting, phone snatching, etc… all of which have become effectively decriminalized.
Plus of course Starmer was Director of Public Prosecutions during the Asian rape gang scandal ( and the failure to prosecute Jimmy Savile, Mohamed Al Fayed, etc…) and now the Labour party are trying to block a public inquiry into events as they know their dear leader is going to be in the firing line. Again it’s Musk that’s calling this out.
For those outside the UK who are not aware of went went down, the authorities knew Asian paedophile rape gangs were operating across the UK but did not act / investigate / prosecute due to the ethnicity of the perpetrators. In their view protecting children from molestation was a lower priority than risking facing accusations of racism
Musk is also right about freeing Tommy Robinson. Everybody in the UK should watch his movie, Silenced, and decide for themselves if this is another instance of the ethnicity of those involved being more important to the authorities than the truth.
Good idea. In the UK the top 1% of earners contribute > 30% of all taxes collected. Our new government thought it would be a good idea to squeeze their pips even tighter so now there’s a mass exodus of rich people, particularly to Italy which has offered them nice tax incentives to move there. Italy will do very nicely out of it where as our government won’t be able to freeze nearly enough pensioners to death to make up that shortfall.
Please tell me more.
Don’t you mean the far-right racist Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon?
May be you are correct to an extent but actually he is looking for talented people who can think out-of-the-box and are ready to break all rules to get something functional. (study the wiring and circuit of Tesla cars and how they are different from conventional cars you probably you may understand the word out-of-the-box)
And this talent is not found natively in the US!?!?! Where people are expected to follow rules to the ditto follow them like sheep.
After reaching at such heights of fame and riches money generally becomes secondary for such people.
We have an old saying in our country:
Let’s hope this saying does not prove to be true in case of the US.
Rape tends to be under prosecuted in general. If the UK gov’t treats rape seriously, it would be one thing, but they do not.
Suddenly being concerned about rape while only pointing to a single ethnic group does not show good faith.
Case in point: Trump, Musk.
Its wonderful how this conversation goes from topic to topic to topic, as if the discussion were happening with a street evangelist from a cult.
The earth is flat!
demonstrates the earth is not flat
You are wrong because microchips!
According to the government at the time ( Labour - PM Gordon Brown, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith ) being the victim of child rape was a lifestyle choice. They circulated an instruction to UK police forces not to investigate:
I guarantee if you ever read any of the testimony of the girls who were the victims you’d get a sickening knot in your gut and you’d weep.
.
Here’s an interview with the “far right” Tommy Robinson ( Stephen Yaxley-Lennon* ) from 2011 where he’s trying to get authorities to take what was happening seriously. Note the sniffy condescension from the BBC’s interviewer who obviously finds having to talk to a working-class oik utterly distasteful:
Now of course Tommy Robinson who was trying to save the girls is in jail and Jacqui Smith who gave carte blanche to rape them is in the House of Lords.
And just today Starmer gives a press conference where he suggests the demand for a full public inquiry is a “far right bandwagon”.
We owe Elon Musk a huge debt of gratitude for stirring up this outrage again, it’s all over the media now due to his intervention and even Kemi Badenoch is pushing for a full inquiry so maybe finally those who participated in the cover-up ( and the silencing of whistle-blowers ) will face a reckoning.
.
An explanation of my previous response:
The point of mentioning a government is shitty about taking rape seriously is just that.
Just because a terrible person draws attention to a terrible thing does not make them less terrible. But we tend to fawn over people that notice some injustices, allowing them to perform, and excusing their own injustices.
A broken clock is correct at least once per day, assuming it still has hands.
But some bad actors draw attention to the terrible thing for the purpose of subversion, drawing attention away from their own problems, and gathering support. Not because they give a shit. Should those injustices and terrible things be addressed? Of fucking course. But simping for dipshits doing the same thing is one of the few things worse than armchair activism.
This isn’t about stopping rape, or helping the victims, because no one in authority gives a fuck. It’s almost always excused to some degree for their own, always punished harshly when it’s a group of people they don’t like.
I shouldn’t have to footnote or explain this so many times but here goes: this is not to say rape shouldn’t be punished, and this is not to say victims should not be helped. But when someone doesn’t agree 100%, the desire to help suddenly vanishes!
We should go after rapists!
Including trump?
Let me tell you about liberals and the main stream media while using slurs!
So many people sit here and get outraged repeatedly over various injustices, real and imagined. And those feelings are usually valid: horrible things are horrible.
But then instead of doing anything about it, we blame ethnic groups, the poor, the immigrants, the non-straight people and other marginalized groups.
News flash:
One segment of outraged people thinks immigrants or some kinda others is to blame for all our woes while hoping they can join the ranks of the elite if they. just. work. hard. enough (LOL). Absorbing stories of how Bezos and Gates and Jobs and all the wealthy worked hard, started in a garage, and worked their way up from nothing. A false story that excludes inherited wealth, excellent starting points, genetic lotteries, associations provided while growing up, and leniency on anything terrible they might have done. It perpetuates a fictional desire that rugged individualism can accomplish anything when it literally cannot. People specialize in things for a reason, and that applies way more broadly than technology.
Musk excluded because it’s pretty obvious he has blood money from daddy, and uses that blood money to generate more blood money. Theres no fake rags to riches story here.
The other option is generally a more tolerant totalitarianism, granting the corporations whatever the fuck they want while dressing in rainbow flags to show support.
And here in this thread we move from topic to topic trying to justify the actions of evil pieces of shit because they once gave a dime to a stranger or pointed out “hey yall, rape is bad” – No shit!
Generally, unless we are actually involved in helping, or politics, or some industry touched by injustices, we only here about the things we see, and what they tell us, and what they tell us to extrapolate from that. And then when it gets boring we move on to the next thing, forgetting the previous. There’s practically a new outrage weekly, and that’s not to say its fictional. It’s intentionally rotated through and sometimes created IRL.
Whatever happened to the human trafficking stuff here? Did our thinking stop at “its the liberals/immigrants doing it?” Did we ever notice a network of people befriending others and families becoming involved to earn cash?
Do we bitch about grooming and ignore the concerted efforts in the US to allow underage marriage, decrease the age of consent, and fight against efforts to stop it? Do we even look up the names of the people involved in pushing these actions?
We probably don’t even remember those who died from covid, the people we will never talk to again, family, friends, coworkers. The people who packed our food. The children that died. The black hole of prisoners and detainees that died?
How many people has Amazon killed?
How many people do health insurance companies kill each year from denials? JFC that was every story not even a few weeks ago.
Someone flew their plane into an IRS building. And all over the news was how the IRS goes after people who don’t have the resources to fight it, but rarely goes after corporations and rich people over taxes they owe and in many cases overtly cheat on. Do we remember that?
Do we remember anything???
We get so tunnel visioned over our pet concerns that don’t even last long, and didn’t even exist for us until it’s fed to us. And in the meantime, bad actors continue to feed it to us, while going about their own sins, protecting their rapists, their murderers. All while squeezing us for resources through every means possible.
And we sit here and simp for the people fucking us over, express various outrages practically selected from a roulette wheel, and point fingers at literally every other place other than the assholes doing this to us.
I keep repeating myself because this entire thread is people repeating themselves and it’s frustrating. No one says, huh, I guess i was wrong about how taxes work. It’s a flood of a claims without context or support that have to be addressed, with no penalty to the people making them (maybe bad faith – I can’t tell but at this point its easy to assume when done so frequently, so, as far as I can understand, bad faith floods of claims).
There are few reasons to do something like this.
It’s usually the latter but maybe some of you can prove me wrong there?
Side note: I’m a sexual abuse survivor. Lets not imply I don’t know how horrible it is because I can tell you things.
More likely because he can pay them less and if they lose their job they have to leave the country, which gives him alot of control over them.
PLEASE BE CIVIL
This thread IS on track to be the first one EVER locked on INN
Maybe you’re missing the point, it was ignored, covered-up and whistleblowers were silenced specifically because of the ethnicity of the perpetrators. The perpetrators have already had to face justice now as eventually a Times journalist took up the cause but those involved in the cover-up have yet to face their day of reckoning.
Although it involves a different case I recommend watching Tommy Robinson’s movie too. And feel free to disregard every single word that comes out of his mouth because you’ll hear what went down directly from the people involved. Then you can decide for yourself which version of events you believe.
The point of my earlier comment that I thought was explicitly stated but I guess wasn’t so I’ll say it again:
In a society that just shy of encourages sexual assault and rape, there will be a large group of people engaging in those actions. That large pool includes all sorts of categories of people.
The reactions have been:
I don’t think my comment was understood because the reply was, in summary, “But it was encouraged in this specific situation.”
Am I being that unclear?
“Watch the movie” I don’t need a movie to tug on my heart strings to say rape is bad when i can just pick at my own scabs that I already mentioned having.
Do you think I don’t believe you? I assure you my frustration is not from that. I’m upset because every single one of these “blame the ethnic group problems” is a systemic problem where something is widely encouraged but we apparently only get upset when it happens within an ethnic group enough times we can get a wall of non-white faces to show on TV.
The best case scenario here is we are being manipulated by directed and curated outrage.
I can’t tell if people here are intentionally taking what I say out context to make a reply to or find offense in, but historically such actions are intentional and in bad faith.
How much of this thread is in good faith, and what purpose does this thread serve?
