Musks influence

Nobody knows with this president. I can’t even understand how american people could vote him and open also the door for an Elon Musk which is even not elected but get’s power. Looks more and more like russia. And I have not so good feelings about Mr. Trumps behavior after four years are gone. (…you don’t need to vote again after…it was the same with Stalin, with all the presidents after him and with Putin as well)

Mmm… kinda like an EU Commissioner?
But at least in the USA the President is elected by the people and legislation is initiated by elected representatives.

I see UK’s Labour government has appointed former EU Commissioner, Peter “Mortgage-Fraud” Mandelson ( aka Mandy ), as UK’s Ambassador to the USA. Given his track record in government he’ll probably set up a trade counter at the embassy selling British passports for a price.

There is still a small difference. He will never have the power Musk gets. And the entire problem is: Musk gets the power above the gouvernment parts controlling Musk. BAD IDEA if anybody asks me.

Kinda funny in a depressing way how many people think laws have to be passed to achieve the enforcement results desired.

Especially when there’s people itching to get their hands dirty for the society they want, hanging on only veild permission from the people they follow.

I wish Elon Musk had more power in the UK because our civil rights and freedom of speech are being eroded at an alarming pace and currently Musk seems to be the only resistance.

Musk is not a resistance. Musk makes his own politics only for one target: his pockets

musk has a lot of rhetoric about free speech but is demonstrably against it, only using term when it helps his interests.

He is only interested in one person: himself. The same is with Donald Trump. I want to know how long this partnership will work until it explodes. Two alpha wolfs are always getting in trouble. It is a natural law. At that day this game will end up. Both characters are exactly the same: extremely brutal, extremely narcissistic, extremely self centered. this duo is dangerous at all. The situation like Trump plans it now looks from outside like a mixture of Putins oligarchy and Stalins structure of his state. The problem with this is that it will possibly destroy America. That’s it. A country like America which lost its democrathy will produce terror for the rest of the world. Really dangerous. And also for the people in America it will be a sad situation. But they elected Trump so they will have to live with the result.

well over a million died in the first term over the results.

I think most living with the results after 4 years would have been quite privileged and not have learned any lessons.

He’s a freaking liar and only for himself.

If he will not try to stay on his White House chair and start to make a one man show oligarchy from America and never leave the White House. It would be the first timt but he said already something like that. Only as a little warning.

I’m pretty sure anyone surviving after 4 years may have an easier time surviving after that. I have no expectation I will be one.

I’m also pretty sure that Trump won’t last all 4 years, but the people using him as puppets will, and it’s just gonna suck hard for us.

I agree @SteveW. It would be nice if he were to help out up here in Canada too, as our left-leaning federal government has the debt up to new outrageous levels. After watching many of Elons videos, he seems like he is just a guy trying to make the world a better place. Like everyone else, he is not perfect.

dude wants his children dead for not being the gender he desired. define “not perfect”

He restricts twitter accounts that don’t follow his messaging, while screaming freedom of speech.

Elon would not help freedom of speech issues, the only speech he desires is his speech. He just screams freedom of speech at the top of his lungs because it’s effective, and it’s what every nazi and death cult person here has been successfully doing, and I know because I was one.

This thread has gotten way off topic…

That said, with respect to Musk, don’t listen to what he says, look at what he and his companies do… There lies the truth.

He had demonstrated conclusively that he does not believe in free speech that disagrees with his.

Why is he championing H1B visas? It’s not because of principles…

He wants to hire tech and scientific employees that he can pay less and who are dependent on their employers to stay in the USA…

There is no real shortage of talent here, there is a shortage of talent that will accept what he wants to pay…

To the extent of whatever shortage of native talent might exist, it’s largely because there is more money to be made these days in other fields (mostly financial related) even if they have STEM degrees including PhDs… and H1B visas only contribute to that.

Lets not talk about the Clintons.

Lets not talk about the Clintons

Lets not talk about the Clintons

I really miss the ROFL reactions in the forum

He is against freedom of speech because he says what he thinks about gender… He can support freedom of speech shuting up and talking only about what is ok for others…

WTF?

Hi Karen,

I am trying to understand your point of view. Could you help me understand these comments a little more? Maybe its the news articles that google is sending me, and I don’t see issues. I am sure there are issues, I will need your help to understand them. Here are my thoughts.

From my perspective, I see a guy who has given everything he has to build a business, including sleeping on the Tesla floor. He has a short meeting with every employee once-per-week to find out what can be improved. Tesla is the leader of electric vehicles. Elon is responsible for Starlink internet, and has high ambitions for humankind with SpaceX. Could you help me understand what I am missing?

I tend to see the complete opposite. I have been on X (formerly twitter) for many years, and before Elon was in charge, only far-left (again, my opinion) comments were kept, while all others were discarded. Here are some statistics for late 2023 with influencers on each type of media.

Media Influencers

It seems that people have a choice on where to get their information. X appears to be more to the right (28/49) at about 57 percent.

I used to work in the U.S. with an H1B visa, and it was a different experience than working in Canada. Although the wages were about the same, living expenses were significantly less expensive. Since you and I are professionals, maybe we are treated differently in the U.S.?

I am not sure what this statement is meaning. When I am working in Canada, I am dependent on my employer who wants me to remain in Canada. Maybe this is a different attitude in your area?

There definitely is the lure of the ‘American Dream’, and for my entire life there has always been the common ‘brain drain’, which is professionals leaving to the U.S. for higher wages and lower living expenses. The only part which makes me hesitate going to the U.S. is the expensive medical system.

I have family that lives in the U.S. and good talent - not just talent - seems to be in high demand. This trait seems common in both Canada and the U.S. Not sure if there is a difference from where you live?

Again, my questions are for me to understand your perspective. As my experience seems to have been different than yours. I am just learning here.

never been on twitter… never will buy anything from musk… to me it’s just a boy, who was not loved and never educated by his parents, close to sociapaths.

Do people here have Clinton PTSD? Why is Clinton being brought up?
Beyond helping trump win to begin with, they’re both pretty unrelated to anything here.

Assuming good faith comments,

Musks speech on twitter tends towards incitement, and encourages such. I left twitter after he posted thoughts encouraging genocide against autistic people.

People may not understand the difference between someone just regular bitching on twitter because they didn’t pass middle school science and incitement, but as an example, one makes a flat earther look stupid, and the other encourages others to do harm because they still think Lamarck was cool.

Its fun to talk numbers when we don’t talk how far right or left statements are. Its not fun to be under bomb threat in a hospital with your child, because libs of tiktok can’t read and posts inflammatory and inciteful comments about the hospital you are in, either because they don’t know how to read, or they intentionally misread and pulled comments out of context for giggles. People get hurt, I have to explain to my kids why we have to reschedule appointments, and why the hospital went on lockdown. If you can’t see the direct connection between the statements encouraged on twitter and the statements made by the administration, and the real negative effects on others including children, I don’t know what to fucking tell you.

I have a small subset list of names of US Citizens Trump and their administration were actively responsible for their deaths. They’ve spent the last few weeks promising more. I actually do not believe anyone talking in support is acting in good faith, or doing anything else other than trying to be edgy, piss people off online, and poison forum activity for their own political self pleasuring.
