Is it really safer to buy from a big name? (Xojo Blog)

I’ll place a bet on - NO
It wont get nuked today, or tomorrow, but in a few days, maybe a week once folks have moved on to the next thing to cause a stir
It happens there

Holy crap yes I have a screenshot, printed it and placed it on my pin board of my office. There it will last a decade…

Addition the screenshot is printed on vinyl with my HP latex so it stays at least two decades even outside

Seems like a handful of people on TOF agree with me. 9 likes at the moment.

What are you awaiting. Everything is okay. Nothing else I saw coming.

I’m one of them. I am just shocked that the thread hadn’t already been locked.

Well, censoring this thread after such a blog post would be the equivalent of pulling down the pants in public.

Which is no big deal, as Geoff just bought “The Emperors New Clothes” (google it)

Hans Christian Andersen. I love tales.

Fables

I think thats how that blog post should be categorized

Maybe “myth” ?

I’m surprised it’s still up. I added my two cents worth to that thread and, like you, I’m surprised at how many likes it’s received in just a few hours.

@bkeeney, @samRowlands,
I must inform you that your posts did not receive a like from Xojo staff or MVPs.

SHOCKED !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!

not really

It has been several times that we were surprised of posts not being deleted nor modified there. I still hope they’ve soften their mind.

The fact that both Sam and I commented on the post, and we’re fairly well known in the community, probably means deleting it would be cause more problems than its worth. But then I think we’re not being particularly hateful or disrespectful to Xojo in our message just telling the truth on the reasons why we’ve moved on. If anything, I think more people need to do that.

I think it’s fair to say that I want Xojo to be bigger and better - that won’t change. However, given the history I doubt they will and I don’t think that will change either.

two more candidates for 1000 years ban… might be more or less zeros in the number…

They had to work really hard to alienate Bob and Sam. Banning them would certainly raise some eyebrows, and possibly backfire.

A lot of the folks who would really raise a stick have probably already bailed out leaving only a handful of old timers behind

The rest quite possibly have no idea who Bob is, or why his opinion holds any sway (or held any sway)
And same for Sam

A side effect of the turnover in users

Why is everybody here thinking Bob and Sam will be banned? The replies are not offensive or rude.

Geoff is intelligent enough to counter or react to what you both wrote. It should be exciting to know his thoughts about what is being written.

Everybody has to decide whether him/herself to use Xojo or not. Xojo surely has its uses and personally, I see a future.

The team is small, but they are experienced and motivated. If it was me, I would return back and concentrate on Desktop Mac - Windows - and Linux which is the very strong point of Xojo. But it isn’t me and I assume Geoff and his team know where they are going.

But this is only my thought. Yours can be different.

After the wrecked API1->API2 transition (Web->Web2 is also on the plate) and the persistent quality issues of their IDE, they’d better keep a low profile instead of pointing fingers at other vendors.
The weaselly way in which facts are bent to make Xojo look better leaves a bad taste with the reader. Obviously Xojo’s management lives in their own reality and doesn’t care much about frustrated customers who leave the platform. The vocal minority can safely be ignored.
And I guess we won’t ever see a reply from the CEO that responds to Sam and Bob in a sensible, non-weaselly way.

Literally I’ll quote what they said

As the Xojo community is meant to be a resource for Xojo users to receive help, share tips, and communicate in a reasonable and professional manner, intentionally inflammatory comments (trolling) or users who are an overwhelmingly negative influence in the community will be suspended.

Thats why I’d expect it

I doubt we’ll see any comments to those threads from any Xojo team members

Lets just say that I am, after whats transpired over the last 4 years, unconvinced
API 2 took several releases to rename many things
And there are still more renaming happening
That tells me there wasnt a thorough plan from the get go rather an exploration of things that they changed as they found them
Android ?
Well … we went go there but I’ve filed enough bug reports so far and more seem to be coming in
It doesnt seem very robust or well tested.

Its not a happy situation they’re in
