Windows will be a whole new version of pain since GDI is the only API you can really use well with declares - and its not capable enough for a lot of stuff

GDI+ MS literally says “if you call into the flat API we wont support you”
And D2D is all COM based and there are going to be things that you wont be able to set up right
Plugins will more than likely be required - and right now there are none that expose those API’s

Is Direct X com based? Most of my image editing is done on the GPU with custom GLSL shaders (which all need to be re-written using MTSL for the Mac soon), I’d expect to have to rewrite them for DX too.
