Xojo 2020r1 available

Had a quick try of this new version…

Opened a simple web project that I have working well under 2019-3.2.
It gives me a message saying it will remove incompatible things, but does not say what they are.

command-k throws up lots of errors that say the subclass implements an event that is already
implemented by the superclass, which appears to be wrong.

Not going to bother with this… feels like alpha software.

I think it is realistic to consider this release as public beta and wait for the upcoming dot releases, documentation and working sample projects. They will be aware of the thunderstorm of issues and comments, probably the quickest way to get software right.

I think Michel B said it well when he said dont treat Web 2.0 as an “upgrade” but as an entirely new product that, if you want to use it, you have to rewrite your code for this new product

And that web 1.0 is dead

Agreed its a new thing- so will be rather buggy and incomplete for a while I guess …
I don’t think Xojo are interested in doing public betas.

Personally I think thats how you should treat Web 2.0 as it currently exists

A real public beta would imply to keep the Web 1.0 in the current release alogsinde a web 2.0 beta and maybe kill 1.0 when 2.0 were at least feature complete.

But, kill it and use the new half baked thing, is The Xojo way
