Alas, you are not a stable marketing genius ![]()
huh
just a stable genius ?
or a marketing genius ?
or a stable marketing (does that have to do with cows then ??)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm âŠ
Curious minds want to know
âManaging customerâsâ expectationsâ is kind of cattle groomingâŠ
I thought we just lowered expectations to be happier ?
Oh yes, I certainly did - and cancelled the subscription. The âlower your expectationsâ strategy worked out pretty well on me, though Iâm not sure if the result meets the expectations of Xojo Inc management ![]()
![]()
depends on what their expectations were
- get rid of this guy entirely & to heck with the loss of revenue ?
- get rid of their complaints BUT keep him paying ? can you say archive
- fix their complaints so they quit complaining ?
- ignore their complaints and MAYBE they keep renewing ?
Iâm sure Iâve missed possibilities
No idea, I am not a genius ![]()
Round and round we go where it stops nobody knows !
Quite an inexpensive learning curve in your case, right? Or did you get any value out of your money for Xojo. Except that you met very nice people here.
-
No I did not get any value out of that license purchase. Even as a licensee I had to go through MVPs for communication or go the PM bullshit route. No meaningful direct communication in the community with product managers. Posts about issues I considered critical were met with silence from Xojoâs team. On the bottom line Xojo had cost me time.
-
Yes, thatâs the good point I am really happy about. Her at INN I met very nice and knowledgeable people.
Millions of devs are happy customers, and then you came âŠ
⊠probably we both should put money into an XDC to get enlightenment âŠ
One reason I left was the behavior of them and the other the missed quality. I donât want to say that they donât want to produce good or at least better quality. But looking on the product I can only see: they try to do something. But nothing what is working. In my eyes there is missed too much functionality.
Changing to Java was not only for me simple while I know Java and C++ since decades. It was also simple while I had to choose Xojo for a customer. So I was anyhow used to Java. And with it I had all I needed. Desktop, web and mobile from one language, one IDE and with an entire ecosystem around.
With a granted update period for the compiler and the ecosystem. With a granted functionality of the source code also for the next version. All of the stuffs we need to write software in a reliable, sustainable and also solid way.
And started then also to take a look how the people behave and tried to convince them to change to Java. Why? While it is the best solution for a long term development process. Secure for decades and not months. Running on all platforms. Including Windows arm, Linux arm and X86, Mac Arm and X86, Rip 32 and 64 Bit. But the people are thinking and believing that they will find something like the holy grail in Go and other languages. And looking for Flutter Desktop and Swift UI for windows. Stuffs I canât get and I will not get.
And so I started to learn that the people like to be in a situation like with Xojo. That they want to have an outlaw Tool which needs more than only programming but also time for workarounds and so on. I have learned that they love that kind of situations. So I decided for me to stop.
Looking now how many people are writing on top that they would come to the XDC but it is not possible while⊠I have no Idea how comes that they are still believing in that platform and in that ecosystem. After 7 years waiting for Android. Wow. After the Web 2.0 chaos.
When ever people want to end up so, that I have learned: let them end up so. They want it so. All the arguments against JavaâŠmultiple and all the same⊠are simple arguments against Xojo and not against Java. But I had to learn: Xojo has a million users, a broad user base and many, many people relying on that ecosystem.
That in mind I took a short look to the internet. Searching for Jobs for Java programmers. I found thousands. And Jobs for Xojo programmers. I found: none. That is simply the difference when using a tool which is alone on the market. Simple. That shows that it is a dead end. No chance for coming up.
So my question would be: when are the people waking up instead of waiting for the next XDC Videos? When do they change their problems instead of waiting for the next XDC Videos? I have, simply, no Idea.
you act always the same, over and over. Why should I change. And again: dude you can say to people you know. Not to people you donât know and which do not agree with it. You should have at least that amount of understanding of social behavior. Ah na. You have not, proved it many times.
Iâve found ONE âŠ
Source: RPG Character Generator | Freelancer
This is getting very exciting now, millions of Xojo freelancers are jumping on this one job. ![]()
hahaha yeah Jeannot, will be happened. But that was the only one I guess.
By the way, after studying the Job description it could be the right for Dale. Enough money for him for a one year Job. Wahaaa what an amount. I canât even start to think about something for that amount ofâŠnothing?
The only one I found in Europe. But I might be willing to look at his excel for 750 USD. For the rest of the money I will write the customer that he has to wait a bit for Android, but iOS might already work ![]()
750-1500 USD for porting an âexcel appâ to Desktop and mobile?!? Insane, some people are really ⊠strange âŠ
Yes some people are really strange. And nobody knows whatâs behind. He programmed in ExcelâŠshows that not so much stuffs are âprogrammedâ. But the other side is: I donât even want to look on an Excel File.
The excel file was most likely a migration product of a VB âappâ.
- Looks like UTF-8 wonât be a requirement (yet) for this deal ![]()
Dale? You meant âDaluâ? Not sure if this dude is still using Xojo. I think he is now deep into tauri. Lost the link to his forum though ![]()
