Why should we still bother with Xojo? We now have Objo, which looks far more promising.
I honestly don’t feel any pain watching that thread unfold. Xojo feels like a dying horse, but many users on the official Xojo forum still don’t seem to realise it yet.
We — and many others here — do, Markus.
I find it painful to see the effects of the API1 to API2 transition (outdated not working code and tutorials), the result of the pushing away of the Pros (especially the “quality” of the advice given by nearly everyone except 2 or 3 people … in pretty much every thread), and the shoddy workmanship of not only DBKit.
Everything was predictable and has come to pass..
I still feel for the people who don’t know better, especially the newbies …
And you’re premature. For all its promise, Objo still has to prove itself. As always the devil is in the detail, and I’m still to see anyone giving it a real go and relaying that experience to the rest.
There are enough cool aid drinkers which thinking: everything okay. Yeah, much less than before 5 years but there are rests…there are dragons in the mist
You are correct Markus, Objo has still to prove itself despite it looks promising.
thats really the quote of the day:
Buying intellectual property in 1990 doesn’t mean you’re good at writing software.
No, it means that you bought it, not more. But to speak truths, XoJo was, following to the XoJo users I know, okay until the rapid release model started.
The eternal beta code dabbler just announced a ‘v2’ for DBKit beta. Breaking changes ahead…
