Objo Studio v26.11.2 Released

I’ve released Objo Studio 26.11.2, with remote Web debugging, more flexible Web layouts, new desktop toolbar items and IDE Scripts that travel with your solution.

The standard library also gains a dedicated URL type and some useful HTML extraction helpers. There are plenty of smaller improvements and fixes across the editor, designers and desktop controls too.

Debug Web applications on a remote server

You can now run and debug Web applications on a remote server directly from Studio.

Your application runs on the target machine while you open it in a browser on your development computer. Breakpoints, stepping, variable inspection and output remain available in Studio.

The Remote Debugger was also upated and gains a headless mode, so it can run on a Linux server without a graphical desktop. Together, these additions let you debug a Web application behind an existing HTTPS reverse proxy while keeping the debugger connection private, for example through an SSH tunnel. Remember to download the latest version of the Remote Debugger when trying this feature.

Give Web pages more room

Web pages can now use either a contained or full width layout.

Contained keeps the existing centred page frame, which works well for forms and focused content. Full Width uses the available browser width, giving tables, charts and dashboards more space. Each page makes its own choice.

The designer also lets you adjust the preview width and fit a wider preview into your workspace. You can inspect how a page looks at different browser widths without changing its saved layout. See the page-width feature.

For applications that need a distinct arrangement on larger screens, there’s an optional Extra wide layout with a configurable breakpoint. It follows the Wide layout until you customise it, so enabling it doesn’t immediately create another arrangement to maintain.

Keep IDE Scripts with your solution

IDE Scripts are useful for automating repetitive work in Studio. Now you can store and share them as part of a solution.

Solution scripts appear in an IDE Scripts folder in the navigator and use the same editing, running and debugging tools as personal scripts. They travel inside a portable .objo archive or as ordinary text files in a Git-friendly .objosln solution.

This makes it easier to keep project-specific checks and editing tools alongside the code they work on.

You can create a solution script, import an existing file, or choose Scripts > Add Current Script to Solution… to bring an open personal script into the solution.

Scripts run when you explicitly choose Run or Debug. Opening a solution doesn’t execute them.

More useful desktop toolbars

Desktop toolbars gain three new item types:

  • Segmented buttons for related choices such as List / Grid.
  • Labels for text that belongs in the toolbar.
  • Search fields with editable text and an optional clear button.

Search fields remain editable when moved into the overflow menu, and segmented groups stay together.

There’s also a Compact density option that reduces horizontal spacing while retaining readable captions. Open the bundled Toolbar Showcase example to compare the layouts and try the new items.

Reorder tabs on Desktop and Web

TabPanel now supports runtime tab reordering on both Desktop and Web.

Enable AllowTabReordering to let users rearrange tabs, or call MoveTab from your application code. Moving a tab preserves its controls, state and identity.

New Desktop TabPanels also use scrolling headers by default. Existing saved layouts retain their previous behaviour.

Work with URLs and HTML more easily

The standard library gains an immutable URL type for parsing addresses, inspecting their components, resolving relative links and editing query parameters.

Changes return a new URL value, leaving the original unchanged. URL values also work as dictionary keys and hash set items, and URLConnection accepts them alongside its existing String overloads.

For HTML extraction, HTMLDocument and HTMLElement gain VisibleText, which skips script, style and hidden content when producing a text approximation from the parsed document. It doesn’t evaluate stylesheets or perform browser layout.

HTMLElement.AbsoluteURL also makes it easier to resolve extracted links and image addresses against a document’s supplied base URL.

Fixes and smaller improvements

This release also addresses several reported problems:

  • Container controls inside modules no longer cause compiler errors in window layouts.
  • Code completion offers imported type names after New and As.
  • Tabbing between Inspector collection rows retains focus.
  • Multiple selected event handlers can be deleted from the sidebar.
  • macOS speech synthesis selects voice variants correctly and stops long passages promptly.
  • Linux AppImage publishing supports a different target CPU architecture.
  • Saved licence access is preserved during temporary licensing service failures.

Control Inspectors organise shared properties more consistently and the project Inspector is simpler.

You’ll find the complete list in the changelog.
