Hamas was explicitly formed to torpedo the peace agreement between the PLO and Israel (Camp David rings a bell?). From the start they were a terrorist organisation driven by ideology and religion like Islamic State (but with a focus on the destruction if Israel), NOT a resistance movement.

It is and always has been a terrorist org. So long as you can recognize that, and the fact that their attack on the music festival that proximally started all this was wrong, while at the same time not equating them with all Palestinians or dehumanizing Palestinians to the point that their extermination is justified in any way, there is no daylight between us.
Hamas was elected a generation ago in the same sense that Trump was elected in the US last year, by a narrow victory. Also there has been no meaningful free/fair elections since. So the current generation of Palestinians aren’t responsible for them being the government anymore than Americans might be in, like, 2045 if Trumpism manages to hold onto power and stifle free and fair elections.
We might escape that fate because of a longer tradition of democratic ideals & norms – maybe. Maybe not.
But the one thing that is certain is that the wholesale extermination of Palestinians is no more valid than the cruel abuse, detention and deportation without due process currently happening to immigrants, even if they WERE largely criminals, which they most certainly aren’t.
In the same way Palestinians are doctors, nurses, artists, authors, journalists, shopkeepers, etc., all with human stories and 99% of them have no blood on their hands.
But it is the same problem: Hamaas has still weapons. Something what makes a problem. Hence Trump promised to Israel to get all weapons out of Hamas Hands we have the problem. It will not change at any point, Hamas will still do what they have done since years. Terror.
