"Is it really written in [BASIC]?"

XYplorer - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - VB6

This makes me wonder if API2 was Xojo’s VB.Net moment? Also highlights that you can just stick with an old version that works… before they ruined it.

VB6 was one of my first favs.
Got into VB with VBA: we played jokes on people in MS Word.

I don’t hate VB. Net, but I think C# is so much better to write, and the jump from VB. Net to C# is so small I never got hooked on VB. net like i did VB6 (On a technical level I don’t think there’s any difference in VB. Net and C# aside from syntax, I just like writing c# more).

The jump from VB6 to .Net was really shitty tho. At the time Windows didn’t come with the libraries, and the updates were usually huge: a tool to remove a worm from my college’s IT department was hundreds of megabytes including dependencies, where I achieved the same with a batch file of a few K. Now that it’s a part of Windows it’s easier tho.

Got into Xojo from RealBasic, a demo that I kept resetting in high school so I could work with it. It felt like a better product back then.
