Forum Hell

Im just trying to be charitable in describing this.

It does seriously strain credulity when, like you say, it occurs over & over & over.

English folks might say

fool me once shame on you
fool me twice shame on me

Or as the simpsons character Mr Wu put it:

Fool me once, shame on you!
Fool me twice, shame on Wu!

I’m really having fun reading the ‘Kudos for Geoff and Xojo’ post on the other forum! :joy: :joy: :joy:

It is fascinating to see how the MVPs are moving mountains so they do NOT have to close this post. ‘Please stop complaining here’, ‘Please move these kind of remarks to another post’ (so we can close those!)

It’s it truly sad to read something like this from Anthony:

All that said, let’s try to get back on-topic. There are plenty of threads, blog posts, and more that talk about the issues people have with Xojo the software and Xojo the company. Let’s try to have at least one topic here that says what we like about Xojo.

I think that post exists, somewhere… but its so short it would be hard to find

Funny thing is that there ARE posts on THIS forum about what we like about Xojo
They are mostly when comparing Xojo to other tools but they exist

Indeed! It proves that freedom of speech can work and that blocking/deleting as they do now just infuses a forum with more rants and dissatisfied people. A vicious circle situation until there is hardly anything/anyone valuable left…

For sure, I’m mostly positive. But I’ve been around long enough to have been trapped by bugs and either had to work around or wait. I’m very sympathetic to folks going through that. And it’s one of my biggest causes of apprehension.

Ignoring people who might have something critical to say is self-defeating in the long run

People who just tell you “Hey you’re doing a great job” all the time often do not give a realistic perspective on what could be better

But … sunshine lollipops & rainbows :man_shrugging:

And that is part of the problem. Compared to other tools, Xojo has some very useful advantages. Can’t really mention that on the other forum.

It is frustrating because even when Xojo compares well you cannot say that on their forum
Believing that by simply NOT mentioning other tools on their forums hides them from other users just isnt reality in this day & age
Google for Xojo and see where this forum comes up in the list :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you seen this? :open_mouth: There is now a summarize button on the ‘Kudos Geoff’ post:

Press it and almost (if not all) the bad comments are hidden, only showing the ‘waw look how great they are’ posts :zipper_mouth_face:

Xojo, you are becoming a fraud more and more every day and are losing my respect completely…

EDIT: ok seems to be a forum feature, but does anyone know how the algorithm works? Can’t be the likes I think because some of the ‘bad’ ones should be in there too.

People have been posting recently saying stuff, like “just yesterday I got a call from at Xojo” and are then posting on the forum about what a great company it is. There’s no way there’s a hit-the-phones charm offensive going on to try and drum up positivity on the forum, is there? I mean you’d think they have enough to be going on with to have time to be calling customers or of the blue.

This is a discourse feature not Xojo’s doing
I have no idea how it decides what the summaries should be
But I would guess that a search of Discourse.org might give you some idea

yup
I can believe there is - calling “friends and supporters” or something

Xojo wouldn’t call those who might voice a “real opinion”, only those who have a fresh pitcher of Kool-Aid ready… (FYI… all the MVP are major stock holders in Kool-Aid)

I HAVE to ask

says

We do numerous surveys throughout the year to collect Feedback. We also do an annual survey every year which will be coming out soon.

Has anyone here ever had such a survey ?
Not the periodic one they do that is “Would you recommend Xojo?” one ?

EDIT - lets be clear. I’m not saying they DONT do these.
I’m just not aware that they do
So I’m curious

I’ve never seen a survey other than the “would you recommend xojo” one you mentioned. But I wanted to check the wording and I can’t even find one of those emails now, I have no idea why. I never actually delete anything!

Hi Norman,

Yep, I did get a survey request on July 2nd, 2019.

Except from this one in August 2015, never seen one or heard of one:
