"deleted" process in macOS Activity Monitor

I have a process showing up that is consuming 25% of my CPU… it has a name of “deleted”
if I force quit this process, it returns a few seconds later

Sampling process 23346 for 3 seconds with 1 millisecond of run time between samples
Sampling completed, processing symbols...
Analysis of sampling deleted (pid 23346) every 1 millisecond
Process: deleted [23346]
Path: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CacheDelete.framework/deleted
Load Address: 0x10de54000
Identifier: deleted
Version: 383.100.7
Code Type: X86-64
Parent Process: ??? [1]

turns out it is a system function to manage various caches in the OS… seems it is a known issue that at times in Catalina (at least), sometimes it uses a bit more CPU than it should.

Deleting these will cause the system to NOT be bootable, so beware

ah probably “delete daemon” shortened to deleted
