Anyone good at creating nice icons/sprites?

I have a collection of sprites for a project, that all started life smaller (32x32 mostly), I need them as 96x96. and obviously there is issues when making them larger. Some I have managed to clean up nicely, others I can’t seem to do well…

Anyone bored and want to see what they can make of them for me

The whole collection numbers 160 sprites… but as mentioned, many have been editted already

I can’t remember the last time when I used icons smaller than 32x32… feels like decades ago. I am using SVGs for many years even when I used Xojo, always converting to lowres PNG bitmaps with the help of bash shell-scripts

thats great, but the resulit is too large … 1024x1024 I need 95x95, and if I use a paint program to reduce them I’m right back where I started…

Never used ChatGPT… how did you provide the data to it?

actually the imsge was 500x500 and reducing it came out way better than I expected

just upload and use a prompt like “improve this image to vectorized one with sharp edges without pixels”

well thanks for the idea… it will let me do ONE image PER DAY, and then the output is SVG not PNG (which is a requirement)… but then I’m not a paying customer either

not to mention the results I got were terrible compared to your.. (sigh)

Well it depends on the model you use (I’ve used o4-mini-high) and how detailed your prompts to the LLM are. If you are using a free account it might be limited. Play around with your prompts, e.g. ask for big 1024x1024 images and reduce them to 96x96 afterwards. The reasoning for programming is 90% incomplete or faulty in my experience. You must “shout” at the LLM and correct it in your prompts many times till it finally delivers good results

This is what ChatGPT came up with:

There was also another variant closer to your image but I lost it somewhere in the process. I am using the paid version of ChatGPT.

And here is another version:

Shoe 04

My former image and this image are exactly 96 by 96 pixels.

I can’t afford the paid version of chatgpt, Poe.com does a “decent” job if I create from scratch, as I can’t figure how to get it to start with an existing image (and I can only make about a dozen attemtps a day)

Can I ask about how many images effectively need to be converted and in which time frame?

I try it on poe but dropping the green one from the first post and I got the following although I told Poe to give the exact image but better quality or hi-res

not sure exactly, maybe as many as two dozen.. there are 160 total, but most are either good as-is, or need to be converted from a 2d to more 3d image,
tile$6C@2xtile$6D@2xtile$67@2xtile$68@2x
tile$8d@2xtile$8E@2xtile$8F@2xtile$90@2x

when I attempted to process the Helmet, all the AI attempts returned a “motorcycle helmet” not a nicer version of this one

I also need a 4 frame animation sequnce for a “fire” but with a transparent background
tile$14_1@2xtile$14_2@2xtile$14_3@2xtile$14_4@2x

I have a feeling Poe does not like to work on a better version of the attach image… weird

yeah, I could not get POE to improve an image, but got close when I just described one… it made this one for me, which I like
ic_launcher-96-xhdpi

With POE I get like a dozen or so attempts a day regardless of how good the results are

I did the four helmets as an example. Size 96 by 96 pixels and 72 dpi (can be changed without quality loss):

Helmet 1 Helmet 2 Helmet 3 Helmet 4

Not bad I think.

thanks. not so sure I like the faces, and those are the ghosts not the helmets

Sorry, my mistake. Just change the names.

I did also the fire frames. These are the frames in sequence:

Fire Frame 1 Fire Frame 2 Fire Frame 1 Fire Frame 4

When you play these as an animation in sequence, you get a burning fire.
