The one that confuses me the most…
…expecting it to be an implicitly typed local variable, which it isn’t in Xojo.
Esp when the reason was "to make it familiar to anyone coming from a language that does use it like JavaScript
But the langs that DO use it often dont require you to also set the type
So how is VAR any more useful
It would have been nice if they HAD made VAR implicitly typed but … no
Geoff “In fact, less than 4% of our users are using a version prior to 2023” here:
But the chart in this thread seems to have a different result:
Perhaps he means only for users with a current license…

In real life it is different then in their meaning. I am sure about this situation and also sure that Xojo, inc. has a false meaning. But the Idea behind is: use the new version. Even if rewrite is needed. Use the new version.
Often there is missing context in the statements he makes
I figured it wasn’t even worth replying to his nonsense response. He doesn’t get what we’re trying to say.
The current documentation is practically useless for someone still on API1. I would argue that it’s not very good for API2 to as well but since I don’t use API2 I can’t say for certain.
I think he understands perfectly well.
Too bad that data is 2 years old, and is not a statistically significant sample…
49 people out of the 400,000 users (per Xojo )
thought there are a million users or more…
Oh sure
I would guess anyone that solely uses TOF has no idea these other ones go on
And Xojo doesnt publish their full results
However their own statement was
60% primarily use the current release of Xojo
so 4% seems suspect
This. And he’s too busy nitpicking semantics, so I deleted my response.
Guys, don’t be so picky about facts. DBKit Beta 9 has been released today. Rejoice!
uh have you looked at the code ?
icky
I can see why he has to make different versions for desktop web etc
its not pretty
typical Geoff to focus on one word rather than the overall idea
Clinton : and just what does “IS” mean
Divine code, written by the master himself. Though, the master is hesitant declaring it production ready and plays the beta trick.

Searching for XoJo without success…why?
Because “Xojo is without sucess”…
