Xojo staff no longer particpate in TOF

Same here. I thought Xojo was the answer to my FM issues, but nope. Just fought Xojo bugs.

Consider PHP. It’s amazing! I’m looking at Vaadin too, but I need to see if it can do the job or not.

You can. Will cost you time to learn Java but after there is no border anymore. Think about it so: it is an investment in your Future. And yes, Java is a total different animal compared to PHP or Xojo or so on. The entire ecosystem is available…starting with Databasehandling, reaching to office automation, charts and much much more. You’ll find so many good Libraries for example at Apache.

And at the end you have a high quality Solution with a good reliability which you can maintain for a decade or two and not a dead cow which is not willing to become live after a decade like Web 1.0.

Ooooof. No Xojo Project Manager really seems to mean that the Xojo Staff Devs just do what they want with no thought out plan. And Xojo won’t involve the community in the planning stages.

What a mess. Half-assed planning = half-assed Xojo.

Xojo has rarely been good at involving “the community” in designing API’s features etc
Keeping things secret until they are seen in a beta has been their MO since - forever

And once it DOES hit beta things are rarely every revamped to any significant degree

Just like Apple & Steve Jobs did for so long

Imagine if Geoff put out a spec and had an open discussion??? And then stuck to the plan. HOLY CRAP, that’d be amazing.

Put it this way

When was the last time you saw Xojo put out a proposal for public comment ?

it’d be nice but it ain’t about to happen
Leopard changing spots & all that

so long ago I cant remember it ever having occurred

indeed that WOULD be amazing, inclusive, and respond to a lot of the criticism of Xojo and their “we know better than you do” attitude

AFAIK Greg is no longer an employee of Xojo, he now only uses Xojo for personal projects.

Indeed he hasn’t been for well over a year

I guess it’s a pipe dream. They don’t even have the capacity (or capability) to fix silly little bugs and inconsistencies that impact the UI of apps coded in Xojo. Instead declaring these issues as ‘works as expected’. These are the expectations developers reasonably can have, regarding Xojo.
