That could be a really time consuming thing when you consider the possibility that someone might come to it with Web v1 or API v1 code. Lots of churn to deal with if you’re going to support any random Xojo code that has ever been written.
Maybe it would be just as well to tweak the LLM skill prompts you already have to deal with Xojo conversions, IDK. Something that maps some common Xojo API differences or patterns into Objo. Given that people are more comfortable with LLM assistance, that might be seen as just as advantageous as an actual converter; it would also be less to support. And I say that as someone who in an ideal world would prefer something more deterministic, if I had Xojo code to convert. I just would hate to see you spread thin over that.
Making it known on TOF is TOUGH since you cant mention INN, or other products
But there are people saying “I switched to something else” which I suppose at some point garners the “What did you switch to ?” questions either publicly or privately
A converter IS possible but yes it has a lot of Xojoisms to deal with
It starts with simple things like making sure all symbols that get converted are consistently cased since Xojo is case insensitive and many languages you might convert to are case sensitive, handling Xojos peculiar line continuation mechanism and goes on from there
I know since my converter is handling all these &many more & its a pain in the arse
I almost got banned on Reddit for mentioning Objo. Perhaps I was in the wrong subreddit. Not sure where I’m allowed to post without being booed away for marketing.
And I’ll offer some unsolicited advice … be careful growing your user base. With more users come more bug reports and feature requests. So far (based on my experience) you’re keeping up better than expected. Have a plan to keep up with support and continue adding relevant features.
Looks like Garry could create a subreddit for objo and do an AMA then. If he announces it here and on his forum, some of us could pile in and help move it along.

I think it is a bit of snowball effect you need, a little bit here and there, adds up for word of mouth and gives a lot more hits on Google. (And same goes for Gregs Buoy)
I will very soon have first version of the first plugin ready, its been going pretty fast. Since when making the plugins I got already for Buoy then I had to write new C++ back-end since there was to much Xojo things in the C++ code. But the same back end I made for Buoy is working fine for Objo (so far) which speeds things a lot and also will make supporting both easier.
Sadly some forums are very hostile towards commercial software. It seems many people feel that all software should be free and open source. I hope you get commercial success with Objo, you deserve it.
While we are speaking here about XoJo and the filemaker world was really similar to this and while many people from XoJo scene ARE former Filemaker customers. That’s how this discussion leaded even to filemaker. And why should this discussion be done on reddit? Is there any reason for that?
The second is: the thread has anyhow no goody in it’s discussion. Yes, there are people starting with it and people which left it and there are people which are caught with their sources in XoJo and can’t leave while they have big projects. And now? Yes this was and is the same with Filemaker customers. Simply.
