The are not alone. After making indie developers leave the community some years ago, they now hiked the price of a mostly worthless ‘developer subscription’ to over 200 bucks a year. The product itself is priced like a product, which it isn’t. The community became stale.
Well probably a crash for Xojo since their consulting request #'s have dropped off a cliff which means a certain “professional” segment will disappear

What are you expecting. While people discussing about XoJo, AI helps others to write their mobile App with Flutter/Dart, their WebApp with Vaadin and their DesktopApp with C#, Java or C++ or, when Apple, Swift. Times passing by.
I personally think Xojo’s time has come and gone, they’re now in survival mode and will maximize this until there’s not enough customers. The phrase “Reap what you sow” feels appropriate.
In times of AI it is no problem to use different platforms and share logic while translating it via AI from Java to C++ to Flutter/Dart and back to Java. Means: there is no need for thinking of a long lifetime for XoJo. Even transferring the source code from XoJo to Java is working in many cases. Build the UI name the UI content like in XoJo and let the AI do its job and you have a resulting Java Swing application. With SwiftUI this is also possible. Why not. And the people are not that stupid that they will pay longer for nothing.
In part this is why I’m writing the code I am to transition Xojo projects to something else

You already had B4i Learn iOS App Development on Windows | B4i . I wouldn’t call Xojo unique, it was only unique in its lack of features.
First of all: Codenameone was already existing when XoJo got iOS Support. Only as information. And B4I came up the same time XoJo came with iOS Support. That said you may realize that there was already a cross platform development tool for iOS and Android which could deliver with the same source code to both mobile platforms and to Desktop. sounds crazy? No. Simply XoJo wasn’t the first tool outside the Apple own environment.
I think what’s going on with Xojo becomes much more comprehensible when you see it as extracting value. Imagine if RealBasic had been started by someone with good architectural chops, vision and dedication and integrity and respect for users, but then was bought out by BigSoftwareCorp, and then enshittified out of existence (starting with giving it a dumb name like, IDK, Xojo?), leaving only a disintegrating skeleton with scraps of flesh on it. Xojo simply skipped the acquisition step, as it wasn’t necessary. Either leadership always was that way, or became that. At this point, it doesn’t matter.
I think earlier on the technical staff may have had more influence (not saying enough) on the product than now.
Well the original product (CrossBasic) was created by someone (Andrew Barry) who had some of that… Then Geoff bought it.

Yup. Even with the massive amount of Xojo knowledge we have (50+ years of collective experience) we’re not keeping up. Haven’t updated our licenses since 2024. We’ve moved a ton of Xojo code into Go. I like Go. It’s missing a UI component but you can get that with Wails or Fyne.
At one point we had 15 Pro licenses for the developers using Xojo (and had updated yearly for over a decade). Now, we have zero active licenses and I don’t see us renewing the 3 or 4 licenses for those of us using it occasionally unless a MacOS update breaks something.
15 pro licenses not being renewed is a significant chunk of change
I know others with similar stories - maybe not quite as many as 15 licenses but more than 5
AFAIK he’s never asked us why and several of our folks go out to lunch with him every now and then.
Thanks … I didn’t know the history that far back. I does seem like there was a core of greatness to it once upon a time but has long since leached out.
