tsbRapidFX programming for Desktop, Web and mobile is released as WIP

tsbRapidFX Released WIP 2026.1 IntelliJ Plugin. Write Desktop, Web and mobile Applications (iOS only on mac) with a VB6/XoJo like Syntax on the Java Virtual machine. What ou need: download intelliJIdea (you do not need to buy it, after 30 days trial it switches to community Edition mode), Java 25 JDK from liberica and install the Plugin on IntelliJ. Now you can start with the designer building your application UI with drag and drop for all platforms. Simple, fast. run your app or Webapp directly on the JVM or publish with tsbDeploy as Installer for Windows, macOS (Singning and Notarizing only on mac) and Linux. Have fun. For questions: use the Github Issues for speaking about Issues and also questions.

Congratulations @thorstenstueker on the release!

I read the documentation, very impressive. Exciting times!

Kind regards, Andrew

Thank you Andrew. It was a big amount of work and we have released it. It is the sister product of our internal used RapidJ which will be released soon for Java Programmers with the same functional environment. Makes it quick to release especial for enterprise projects. In use for medical devices and many commercial projects we realized. nd it was really fun to implement a new lang on the JVM.

Why does it nowhere say how much a license is? Most people won’t even bother to ask - they want the information fast, and if you make it difficult then that reflects badly on the whole product (they’ll just assume it is ridiculously expensive if you can’t even show it. “Embarrassed?” they’ll think).

Transparency and Being Open breed Trust, not doing it breeds suspicion.

Ah yes cause there was no decision until now. For Indie devs 99,- per year, for enterprise 198,- per year for open source projects for free, education (students and schools) for free. For startups instead of enterprise 99,- per month if the company isn’t registered longer than 3 years ago and has a funding under 1 Million Dollar.

We will show up with it with the 2027.1 Version coming at the end of next month. And it comes always with fallback license means: you had it until Version xx then you can use this version for lifetime.

As we are a software development company we had no Idea what we will to rethink this entirely for this purposes. As the language is in use for our customers for longer time I decided we will start one day selling it. Before we will also present our own Java 25 AOT compiler so runtimes can be compiled to .execute and to apple and Linux runtimes for arm and x86. This compiler is in end phase tests while we wanted urgently to replace the robovm approach we used until now.

This said we change renderer for Desktop, iOS and Android to Skia and can use Java25 as language Level for the JVM and as a JDK. RapidFX compiles from Java 8. But with the compiler we have the chance to native compile instead of having open sourcecode. This may help people to use it while most users don’t want their source code accessible. Since we have AI available there is no sense to use obfuscation cause AI has no problem to read the code with obfuscation. So I decided we will have an own compiler with llvm toolchain.

Am I reading that wrong? Above you said Enterprise is 198/year but for startups it’s 99/month?

And is that per developer or what?

One suggestion: describe some case studies, eg

(1) I have a Mac, an iPad, and an iPhone, and I want an app where I can use my iPhone to scan barcodes, get the info online, and put it in a database on my iCloud for all my devices to share. A bit like the Notes app.

(2) My wife wants to share as well - how can I accommodate that?

Essentially some recommendations on which setup would work for sharing between devices and/or people.

Year not month sorry

The marketing concept will come later also the website isn’t launched. We have also a development job we have to get done. The entire sales model will be done b jetbrains. I will inform. There will be videos showing what it can do.
