Take me to the Pilot

 I had already read it, so I knew it wasn’t what I needed :frowning:

seem like you can get it in a few place…but it is really expensive… and it is a physical book

Ive seen it for up to $90.00! this project is a mind exercise… so I’m not willing to spend anything like that

Kind of surprises me its not somewhere in an apple archive that you could get
I’ve found ones with newton docs etc

You’d think, huh… I have found LOGO books… and the ATARI PILOT manuals (scanned images, but still)… even a PDP-11 manual

There do seem to be some libraries that list it in ther catalogs

https://www.worldcat.org/title/pilot-the-language-and-how-to-use-it-including-apple-pilot-and-superpilot/oclc/9783800
Like UC Davis , Stanford and a few others down that way

The computer hisory museum has some stuff as well but I dont know if this means its accessible to the public.

Looks like you need Student or Facility Creds to access those… one is 14miles away, the rest are over 100

If you wanted to examine the book in the university library, it may not need credentials unless those libraries are more restrictive than the university libraries in Florida I haunted when I went back to grad school a couple of years ago. I wandered into ones on schools other than mine without ever being challenged for university ID. Of course, checking a book out required appropriate ID.

Worldcat also shows three public library systems with the book: Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York City. You could check with your local public library and see if they can get it through interlibrary loan.

What about lockdown ? Still active in California ?

Yup… “stay at home”… although for San Diego they have opened the beaches and parks. but to hike only. no stopping, no gathering. The beaches in the rest of the state remained closed because the populace there could not follow the rules.

So, it is not possible to go to City the Library (Libraries)…

We are confined at home since March 17, here in France.

Days are still 24 hours, but sleeping time vary day after day, awaken hours seems much longer than before. Time seems to slow down…

Take care.

For anyone that might be interested… I have the core Pilot instructions fully operational… Next up is the Turtle Graphics command which will emulate a 1024x768 virtual graphics area scaled to the particular model iPad (on a 9.7 is will be scaled to fit 768x576, where on the 12.9" it will be full scale)

if anyone would like to TestFlight this, let me know

Congrats !

Almost need to get it in something that promotes learning to code for kids
But i’m not in marketing so have no clue what that might be

yeah I suck at marketing, and get distracted by squirrels

Looks like sam has a nice site that does a pile simply

prmac.com

Apparently prmac.com is no more.

https://forum.xojo.com/60008-prmac-com-no-more/0#p487355

uh… worked for me… by clicking the link in your above post even.

Yeah you can get to the site but they are shutting down apparently
So if you try to promote something you get a message saying they are done shortly :frowning:

@DaveS

Using the link to the Xojo forum, that I posted before, you can read the message that Brendan Murphy received after he had logged in on prmac.com.

"Sadly and most regrettably, prMac will close April 30th, 2020. Due to the financial crisis (2008-2014) in addition to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we are no longer able to keep prMac as a viable entity.
