Qooxdoo is alive

I’ve just noticed qooxdoo has sprung back to life. It’s an open source project formerly backed by 1&1 (who have since renamed themselves Ionos) but they lost interest in it and it seemed stagnant for a long time but now it’s back.

I used it for a project many years ago and really quite liked it.

It looks like they may have spent the time rewriting it from using Python to using Node.js. It seems there are a lot of bright ideas that code themselves into box canyons like this and then have to reinvent their way out of it. I’m going to go looking for evidence of some kind of post-mortem around this so that I’m sure they are aware they have to get it right this time.
